Special Features:

Nectarosity is a Blended Scotch made from malt and grain whiskies from several Scottish distilleries. At the heart of the composition is a two-stage cask approach: specially made new American oak casks first shape a grain whisky, which then continues its maturation in other casks. The same oak casks are subsequently used for malt whisky. Compass Box combines these two components with other whiskies to bring fruit and toffee further to the fore.

The recipe includes malt whiskies from Linkwood, Clynelish and Balmenach, alongside grain whiskies from Cameronbridge and Girvan. First-fill bourbon barrels, a first-fill Palo Cortado sherry butt and a refill sherry puncheon complement the specially made oak casks. The blend consists of 64.3% malt whisky and 35.7% grain whisky.

The style brings together honey-sweet fruit and patisserie notes. Poached pear, nectarine and lychee feature alongside apricot and pineapple, while toffee, vanilla, butterscotch and cinnamon bun complement the fruit. Subtle spice and toasted wood provide a contrast. Nectarosity was first released in 2024 and is bottled at 46%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers honey, poached pear, nectarine and lychee. Apricot and pineapple add to the fruit aromas.
• Palate: Juicy apricot and pineapple emerge first on the palate, followed by toffee, vanilla and butterscotch. With a little water, the whisky feels creamy and sweet.
• Finish: The flavour of cinnamon buns lingers on the finish. Hints of toasted wood and butter toffee accompany the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 2000, Compass Box develops its blends in the Blending Room in Richmond near London, while its own whisky stocks mature in Scotland. The company is not a distillery; it creates compositions from whiskies made by different producers. The components are selected and combined according to the intended flavour profile. Lead Whiskymaker James Saxon developed Nectarosity, which Compass Box releases under its own brand.
