Special Features:

Orchard House represents the fruit-forward side of the Compass Box core range and places the character of its constituent malt whiskies at the forefront. The first version joined the permanent range in 2021; the current presentation was introduced in 2024 as part of the renewed Core Collection. This blended malt Scotch whisky is bottled at 46%, while the influence of the oak is deliberately kept light.

Malts from Clynelish, Linkwood and Glen Moray matured in first-fill bourbon casks make up the largest share of the recipe. They are joined by a malt from a distillery near Aberlour matured in an Oloroso sherry-seasoned butt, a small proportion of Caol Ila and a Highland malt blend from a custom-made, heavily toasted French oak cask.

The composition combines juicy apple and pear fruit with citrus peel, honeyed sweetness, malt and delicate ginger spice. The whisky is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Apple and pear define the nose, while pineapple, lemon and lime peel, and Earl Grey tea add finer accents. Green grass, clover, peach, meadow honey and red grapes broaden the fresh fruit profile.
• Palate: Malt and ginger emerge first on the palate, followed by honey, wild strawberries and vanilla shortbread. Peach and cream, honeydew melon, floral fruit and distinct spice also come together.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length and fades with a soft woody note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Compass Box was founded in 2000. Rather than distilling its own spirit, the house develops its whiskies through recipe creation, cask selection and blending. The team works in its own Blending Room in Richmond, London, and holds maturing whisky stocks in Scotland. Orchard House illustrates this approach by bringing together fruit-forward malt whiskies from different distilleries and cask types.
