Special Features:

This 0.05-litre miniature contains The Draam, the signature single malt from the Isle of Raasay Distillery. The whisky was released in 2021 and received its current name in 2025; the six-cask recipe developed by Alasdair Day remained unchanged. Peated and unpeated spirit mature separately in first-fill American rye whiskey casks, new Chinkapin oak casks and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks. Only then are the six components married.

Fermentation periods of three and five days encourage dark-fruit notes in the spirit. In the whisky, cherry and blackberry meet wood smoke, cinnamon, black pepper and vanilla. Like the full-size bottling, the miniature is bottled at 46.4% alcohol, without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: On the nose, wood smoke and savoury peat mingle with baked plum, cherry and red apple. Apricot and candied fruit, including glacé cherries, are joined by honeycomb, vanilla and a hint of flint.
  • Palate: The palate is creamy, with mineral peat smoke, dark caramel, malt and oak. Stewed red apple, blackcurrant and black cherry meet honey, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and light heather smoke. Salted caramel and both sweet and salty popcorn complement the fruit notes.
  • Finish: The medium-length, drying finish lingers with spice, butterscotch, salted nuts, smoke and a sweet note of charred oak. A light saline note and dried fruit remain.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day founded R&B Distillers in 2013. For their distillery on Raasay, they converted the 19th-century Borodale House into a modern distillery with a visitor area. The island’s first legal distillation began there in September 2017.

The Isle of Raasay Distillery distils the spirit on the island, where the whisky also matures and is bottled. The distillery uses Scottish barley and, for the peated component, grain malted with Highland peat. Water from its own well is used in production.
