North British 1988/2024 - 35 y.o. - Ex Islay Cask - Murray McDavid
Special features: This 35-year-old Single Grain Whisky from the Lowland distillery North British has been released by the independent bottler Murray McDavid in the renowned "Mission Gold" series. After 34 years of maturation in Bourbon Hogsheads, it received a one-year finish in Ex-Islay casks that previously held peaty Single Malt from Islay. It was bottled at a robust 52.1% ABV. The bottling is limited to 727 bottles and has not been colored or chill-filtered.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Salted butter, creamy vanilla, and a hint of charred oak.
Palate: Full-bodied with flavors of candied pineapple, a salty sea breeze, and gentle peat smoke.
Finish: Long-lasting and oily with notes of citrus peels and light smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: The North British Distillery, founded in 1885 in Edinburgh, is known for producing Grain Whisky, which often serves as a base for various blends. Murray McDavid, an independent bottler, was established in 1994 and specializes in the maturation and bottling of rare and old whiskies.
