Special features: This 10-year-old single malt whisky from the renowned Benriach Distillery has been bottled at cask strength by the independent bottlers North Star Spirits at 53.5% ABV. The maturation took place entirely in a carefully selected Oloroso sherry butt, giving the whisky a special depth and complexity. The bottling occurred in 2025, with no chill filtration or coloring used to preserve the natural flavors of the whisky.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Strong notes of raisins, dates, and dark caramel, accompanied by honey, vanilla, and fine oak spice. Over time, hints of chocolate, oranges, and sweet pastries unfold.
- Palate: Full-bodied and creamy – dark dried fruits, toffee, and cloves merge with sherry spice, cocoa, and a touch of oak. The Oloroso influence brings depth and a warm, elegant sweetness.
- Finish: Long and warming – with notes of nuts, caramel, dark chocolate, and a fine, spicy dryness in the aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: The Benriach Distillery, founded in 1898 by John Duff, is located in the heart of the Scottish Speyside. After a brief closure in the early 1900s, production resumed in 1965. Today, the distillery is known for its variety of cask maturations and experimental bottlings. North Star Spirits is an independent bottler known for its careful selection and bottling of single casks.
