Special Features:

This Cellar Series release combines maturation in former Cognac casks with a finish in plum liqueur casks. Distilled in 2020, the rum spent four and a half years in the Cognac casks before a further six months in the finishing casks. The entire maturation took place in Vietnam's tropical climate, which intensifies the interaction between the rum and the cask wood.

The rum is made from pure sugarcane juice from a single sugarcane variety and distilled in a copper column still. The 2025 release comprises 1,110 bottles worldwide. It is bottled at 45% without chill filtration or added colouring. Its dark amber hue and pink-and-cream gift packaging with bamboo motifs complement this edition's fruit-led character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Fully ripe plums lead the intense aroma. Honey and a subtle hint of vanilla complement the fruit.
• Palate: The rum is rounded and balanced on the palate. Ripe plums mingle with delicate spices and a light woody note.
• Finish: Fruity sweetness persists through the long finish, accompanied by a lasting honey note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Distillerie d'Indochine was founded in 2018 by three friends near Hoi An in central Vietnam. Among the people behind Sampan is Master Distiller Antoine Poircuitte, whose grandfather first sparked his interest in distillation. The distillery combines techniques from the French Antilles with locally grown Vietnamese sugarcane.

Short production routes and regional raw materials shape the distillery's approach. The sugarcane is harvested by hand, and the copper distillation equipment comes from the Gers region of France. Its maturation casks include casks sourced from Cognac. This brings together the processing of local sugarcane and French expertise in distillation and cask maturation.
