Special Features:

Bumbu The Original combines Barbados rum with selected natural spices. Its recipe draws inspiration from Caribbean sailors and merchants of the 16th and 17th centuries, who added local fruit and spices to their rum. Today, Bumbu is distilled in small batches and blended by hand on Barbados.

The rum matures in former bourbon casks, and the blend includes rums aged for up to 15 years. Cask maturation and spices together shape its sweet, spicy character. Vanilla and caramel meet notes of banana, nuts and oak. Bumbu can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails.

The heavy glass bottle features a prominent metal X medallion and a large cork stopper. This version contains 0.7 litres at 40% alcohol and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, Madagascar vanilla and mellow caramel combine with spicy oak.
• Palate: The palate reveals ripe banana, toasted nuts, cinnamon and allspice.
• Finish: The finish is smooth, fading with gentle sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

The brand belongs to Bumbu Rum Company LLC, part of the Sovereign Brands portfolio. Bumbu The Original is produced at West Indies Rum Distillery on Barbados. Founded in 1893, the distillery stands directly on the coast and uses two continuous distillation systems for this rum.

For fermentation, the distillery uses a secret yeast whose history dates back to 1840. Production also involves water from Barbados, naturally purified as it passes through the limestone bedrock. The sugar cane used to make the rum comes from various growing regions in the Caribbean and South America; Bumbu The Original is distilled and blended on Barbados.
