Doorly's 5 Year Old brings together two distillation methods and tropical cask maturation on Barbados. The blend uses rums distilled from fermented molasses in pot stills and column stills. They mature for at least five years in former bourbon casks made from American oak.

This bottling contains no added sweeteners or flavourings. Tropical fruit, vanilla and coconut shape its character, while ginger and oak add spicy accents. The rum is offered at 40% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

As well as being enjoyed neat or over ice, Doorly's makes a suitable base for cocktails. It can also be combined with ginger ale for a simple long drink.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla stands out on the nose, accompanied by fresh and tropical fruit aromas and toasted coconut.
• Palate: The palate shows pronounced fruitiness while remaining fresh and light. Vanilla, ginger, coconut and oak round out the flavour profile.
• Finish: The finish is light and subtly sweet, leaving a pleasant warmth.

Distillery/Bottler:

Behind Doorly's is the family-run Foursquare Rum Distillery in St. Philip, Barbados. The distillery occupies the site of a former sugar factory dating from the 17th century. Richard Seale belongs to the fourth generation of a family of rum merchants and designed new stills for Foursquare in 1996.

Foursquare produces distillates in both copper pot stills and a traditional twin-column still. Combining these two distillation methods is part of the Barbados rum style. For Doorly's, distillation, maturation, blending and bottling all take place on the island.
