Tiki Lovers White Rum combines the fruit-forward character of Jamaican rums with aged and fresh distillates from Trinidad. The unaged Jamaican pot-still rums come from Monymusk and Worthy Park. Their high ester content contributes to pronounced notes of banana and cooked fruit.

The blend includes rum from Trinidad aged for up to five years in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels. Subsequent charcoal filtration removes the colour acquired during maturation. Unaged column-still rum from Trinidad adds a lighter, fresh character to the blend. This clear rum therefore combines cask-aged and unaged distillates; its white colour does not mean that all its components have gone without wood maturation.

The rum is bottled at 50% alcohol and contains no colouring. Its fruity and floral character suits classic rum cocktails such as the Daiquiri, Piña Colada and Rum & Cola.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is light and sweet, with pineapple, banana, guava, kiwi and orange. Beneath these aromas lies a delicate vegetal sweetness with a slightly fermented note typical of Jamaican rum.
• Palate: The rum is light-bodied on the palate. Sweet, clear notes of lime, kiwi and orange open the flavour before cooked pineapple comes to the fore. A brief, measured warmth then develops.
• Finish: The long finish is marked by tart, bitter and astringent citrus notes. Lightly roasted grapefruit is particularly distinct.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tiki Lovers was created by Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, who also founded The Bitter Truth. Since 2006, their work there has focused on cocktail bitters, inspired by historical cocktail books and old bitters recipes. Both brought experience as bartenders; Hauck, also a graphic designer, developed the products’ visual identity. The idea for Tiki Lovers grew from their experience that tropical cocktails lose their expression when made with base rums lacking character. They therefore select Caribbean rums and combine them into blends for the cocktail bar. The Bitter Truth is the bottler of this rum.

The Jamaican distilleries involved include Monymusk and Worthy Park. Worthy Park lies in Lluidas Vale in inland Jamaica and brings together sugarcane cultivation, its own sugar mill and rum distillation on a single estate. The mill supplies the distillery with molasses. Built in 2005, the distillery operates a Forsyths pot still with two retorts, which are additional distillation vessels connected after the still.
