A.H. Riise Danish Navy

Special features: The A.H. Riise Danish Navy Rum is produced according to the original recipe of Albert Heinrich Riise, who received the exclusive right in 1838 to operate a pharmacy on the island of Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies. There he began distilling rum and experimented with various flavor notes. This rum is distilled in traditional pot stills and matures in various barrels that previously contained molasses-based rum. The entire bottling process still adheres to the methods that A.H. Riise used in his pharmacy on St. Thomas.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Intense aroma of licorice, orange peel, coconut, papaya, eucalyptus, and mint. A hint of balsamic reduction and black tea.
  • Palate: Full-bodied with a balanced mix of citrus fruits, fresh notes of eucalyptus and mint, as well as intense flavors of licorice and balsamic reduction.
  • Finish: Long-lasting with nuances of mocha and dark chocolate with orange.

Distillery/Bottler: A.H. Riise Spirits is a Danish company based in Dragør, Denmark, founded in 1838. It was named after Albert Heinrich Riise, who worked as a pharmacist on Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies and began rum production there. Today, A.H. Riise Spirits produces a variety of spirits, including rum, gin, and bitters.
