Special Features:

This release preserves a vintage from the days when Caroni was still producing rum on Trinidad. Distilled from molasses in 1998, the rum matured for 27 years before The Nectar bottled it in 2025 for The Nectar of the Daily Drams range. Its character brings pronounced tar notes together with ripe fruit, dark fruit notes and sweet touches of caramel and vanilla.

The rum was bottled at 55.5% without chill filtration or added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle is offered without gift packaging. Its label features a bird silhouette with red and black accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Tar and oak define the intense nose. Ripe fruit, caramel and sweet vanilla join them, with light smoke adding to the bouquet.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied on the palate. Tar, spicy notes and ripe fruit combine with caramel and dark coffee.
• Finish: Tar and spice remain present through the long, intense finish, accompanied by sweet caramel notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Caroni was established in 1918 in connection with a sugar factory on Trinidad. This link to sugar production also provided molasses, the raw material for its rum. Over its history, the distillery used different types of distillation equipment and produced both light and heavy rum styles. Much of its production was sold in bulk for use in blends. The distillery is now closed, and its remaining stocks are released by various bottlers.

The Nectar is the Belgian company behind the Daily Dram bottling range. Since its foundation in 2006, its initial focus on whisky has developed into a wider selection of spirits that also includes rum. For its own Daily Dram bottlings, The Nectar selects casks of whisky, rum and other spirits. For this release, Caroni produced the spirit, while The Nectar is responsible as the independent bottler.
