Special Features:

Oak-cask maturation shapes Conde de Cuba Reserva Especial. This Cuban molasses rum matures for up to eleven years through the solera system; this does not indicate a uniform age for the entire bottling. Five copper distillation columns are used to distil the rum.

The casks are made of white oak. The rum has a dark amber hue and is bottled at 40% alcohol without added colouring. The clear 0.7-litre bottle comes in a cream-coloured tube decorated with historical illustrations.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals delicate vanilla and almond notes, accompanied by a subtle hint of marzipan. Caramel and sweet fruit aromas of orange and dried cherries add to the bouquet.
• Palate: The palate opens with nutty notes before the fruity impressions of the bouquet return. The sweetness of ripe mango combines with marzipan and delicate woody notes. The texture is delicate.
• Finish: The finish is velvety, with an oak note that lingers for a long time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Conde de Cuba comes from the province of Las Tunas in southeastern Cuba. The sugar mill, The Ron Sevilla Factory and the ageing cellars are all located on the same plantation. Bottling also takes place on site. The local Medialuna sugar cane forms the basis of production.

Established in 1946, the distillery combines sugar-cane processing with rum production and ageing. Molasses is obtained from the pressed sugar cane and fermented with yeast in large tanks before being distilled in copper columns. This integrated production chain makes the site more than just a bottling facility.
