For Knüppel, FRC brings together exclusively high-ester distillates from Australia, Martinique and Jamaica. The selection of these particularly aromatic rums shapes this international blend, as does its high bottling strength of 70%. It is bottled in small batches in 0.7-litre bottles.

Sugar cane and citrus are the main aromatic themes, accompanied by fruit compote, exotic fruits, grassy touches and delicate floral accents. Despite the sugar-cane sweetness on the nose, the rum is dry and mineral on the palate. Its pale golden colour develops without added colouring, and it is not chill-filtered.

A few drops of water can help reveal more of the intense ester aromas. In cocktails, Knüppel is suited to recipes that call for a rum whose aromatic presence holds its own alongside strongly flavoured ingredients.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense ester notes meet grassy freshness, sugar-cane sweetness and lively citrus aromas on the nose.
• Palate: Citrus and sugar cane lead on the palate. The rum is dry and powerful, with mineral spice and exotic fruit notes.
• Finish: The long finish leaves peppery spice and lingering citrus notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

FRC stands for Flensburg Rum Company and is one of the brands owned by Oldman Spirits in Jübek, Schleswig-Holstein. Under this name, the company mainly releases single-cask bottlings and small batches. Its work therefore focuses both on the character of individual casks and on blending different rums.

Until 2019, Oldman Spirits carried out all bottling, labelling and packaging entirely by hand. In the years that followed, the company expanded its cask warehouse and introduced semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling lines. Alongside its own brands, the team also develops and bottles spirits for other companies.
