Special Features:

Maturation in two climates and an Oloroso sherry finish shape this rhum agricole from Martinique. The rum first spent four years on the Caribbean island, followed by a further two and a half years in northern Germany, where it received its finish in an Oloroso sherry cask. FRC releases it as a single-cask bottling with a stated age of six years.

The rum combines vegetal agricole notes with the spicy, oxidative influence of the sherry cask. Dark fruit and roasted nuts sit alongside cane sugar, delicate grassy notes and earthy spice. It is bottled at 56.6% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres, without colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cane sugar notes meet delicate grassy nuances and roasted nuts, accompanied by a spicy, oxidative note.
• Palate: The palate is dry and structured. Intense roasted nut flavours and ripe dark fruit develop into earthy spice, complemented by cask spice and the Oloroso influence.
• Finish: A delicate, dry woody note lingers through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

FRC stands for Flensburg Rum Company and belongs to Oldman Spirits, based in Jübek in Schleswig-Holstein. The brand focuses on single-cask and small-batch bottlings. Alongside selecting and bottling these rums, the company creates its own blends and provides product development and contract bottling services for other brands.

Until 2019, the team carried out all bottling, labelling and packaging by hand. Oldman Spirits subsequently expanded its cask warehouse and introduced semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling equipment. For the Martinique rum, FRC acts as the bottler and continues the Caribbean rum’s maturation in northern Germany with an Oloroso sherry finish.
