This bottling focuses on DOK, Hampden's particularly ester-rich mark. The abbreviation stands for Dermot Owen Kelly-Lawson and denotes the distillery's highest ester level, with 1,500 to 1,600 grams of esters per hectolitre of pure alcohol. Distilled in 2021, the rum matured entirely in tropical conditions for four years and was bottled in 2025 at 60%. It contains no colouring and is not chill-filtered.

For the third Magnum Series, Velier pairs different Hampden marks with photographs by Cristina de Middel. The varied expressions of a single distillery are thus presented alongside a distinct artistic vision. This edition comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is intense: burnt rubber, flambéed banana, roasted pineapple, vetiver, iris and camphor emerge first. Apple and mirabelle plum jam, acacia honey, vanilla and liquorice gradually follow.
• Palate: The rum feels soft and silky on the palate. Lemon and grapefruit mingle with cut hay, alfalfa and grated ginger. Mineral impressions of drawing charcoal and petroleum then emerge alongside a medicinal balm note, before sugar cane becomes distinct.
• Finish: The lively finish remains lemony, joined by milky coconut notes, vanilla and hints of chamomile and savory infusions. Breathing out through the nose reveals chocolate shavings with a pleasantly soft impression. Fresh accents of mustard seed and yellow plum remain in the empty glass.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hampden Estate is located in Trelawny, Jamaica, and its history stretches back to the 18th century. Long fermentations, the use of dunder and copper pot stills shape the production of its aromatically intense rums. The distillery distinguishes its spirits through so-called marks, whose ester levels indicate different aromatic expressions.

Velier is the bottler of this release and brings rum and photography together in the Magnum Series. The third edition focuses on Hampden, with its different marks forming the theme of the selection. Cristina de Middel's images add a distinct artistic perspective to the project.
