Mount Gay 1703 Eclipse Rum - Liter

Special Features: The Mount Gay 1703 Eclipse Rum comes from the oldest documented rum distillery in the world, which has been producing fine rum in Barbados since 1703. This rum is made from a blend of pot still and column still distillates and ages for at least two years in oak barrels that were previously used for bourbon storage. This aging gives it its characteristic golden color and complex aromas.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Inviting aromas of vanilla, caramelized sugar, and ripe bananas, accompanied by subtle smoky notes and spices.
  • Palate: Smooth and balanced with notes of honey, dark fruits, roasted oak, caramel, and nutty nuances.
  • Finish: Medium-length, slightly dry with gentle spice and lingering sweetness, accompanied by oak wood notes.

Distillery/Bottler: Mount Gay Distilleries Limited, founded in 1703, is the oldest documented rum distillery in the world. It is located in Brandons, St. Michael, Barbados, and has been under the management of the French spirits group Rémy Cointreau since 1989. The distillery is known for its traditional production methods and its close connection to the maritime culture of the region.
