Navy Island Navy Strength brings together eleven medium- to heavy-bodied Jamaican molasses rums of different ages. All components are distilled in small batches in pot stills and matured in ex-bourbon casks. The blend combines different expressions of Jamaican rum without using spirits distilled in continuous columns.

Bottled at 57%, this rum carries the Navy Strength designation. Its powerful profile combines concentrated fruity esters with a rounded, smooth palate. No sugar, vanillin or glycerine is added; caramel colouring ensures a consistent colour. The rum can be enjoyed neat or over ice and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with cylindrical gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals pronounced fruity esters and citrus notes, with orange particularly prominent. A slight waxy note complements the concentrated aromas.
• Palate: The rum is spicy and oily on the palate. Banana bread, vanilla and further fruit notes shape its flavour. Despite its high alcohol strength, it remains rounded and smooth.
• Finish: The long finish develops a lingering sweetness, accompanied by figs and oak spice. These impressions continue to unfold in the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Navy Island was founded by Dutchman Jacco Kroon, who spent many years in the spirits industry before establishing his own rum brand. Launched in 2016, the brand focuses on blends from the Jamaican distilleries Worthy Park, Hampden and Monymusk. These distilleries produce the rums, while Navy Island brings their different spirits together in a single bottling.

The brand takes its name from Navy Island, off Port Antonio on Jamaica's coast. This small tropical island was used by the British Royal Navy in the 18th century. Its history provides the background to the brand's name and nautical connection.
