XO Legacy Reserve marks the return to the historic name Old St. Croix. This limited edition draws on the brand's original blend. For this release, the Master Distiller selected casks from distilleries in the West Indies and Central America and combined their spirits into a rich, velvety blend.

The edition also commemorates a historic achievement: the original Old St. Croix blend won a gold medal at the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893. Today's XO Legacy Reserve is offered at 42% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging.

The blend has an antique-gold colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, gentle toffee aromas mingle with sun-ripened fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, oak, tobacco and aged leather reveal a pronounced savoury umami character. Alongside them is a sweetness reminiscent of caramelised figs and citrus peel coated in a sweet glaze.
• Finish: The long finish feels enveloping. Aged oak and dried orchard fruit linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Old St. Croix's history is rooted in the story of Danish pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise, who opened his pharmacy on Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies in 1838. The brand name, however, refers to the island of St. Croix and its sugar-cane cultivation. By changing its name from A.H. Riise to Old St. Croix, today's brand revives this historic name.

Working with a variety of aged spirits defines the XO Reserve collection. Its foundation is twice-distilled Caribbean rums, selected and blended by the Master Blenders. They balance the individual components to maintain a consistent flavour for each bottling.
