Planteray PXXO adds a third maturation stage in former Pedro-Ximénez casks to the Barbados XO 20th Anniversary. Before this finish, the rum first matures in ex-bourbon casks in a tropical climate, then in ex-Ferrand casks in south-western France. The PX finish brings a nutty, raisin-led accent and pays tribute to Andalusia's Pedro-Ximénez tradition.

The style remains smooth and approachable while gaining a darker, dessert-like dimension. Coconut, vanilla and tropical fruit meet cocoa, milk chocolate and honey; on the palate, coffee, grape, plum and almond broaden this range. The rum is suited to drinking neat and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with floral and fruity notes alongside coconut and vanilla. Cocoa, milk chocolate and honey then emerge, accompanied by hints of gingerbread, mango, banana and tobacco.
• Palate: The rum feels rich and velvety on the palate. Wood, mango, coconut, chocolate and pastry cream come together, followed by coffee, grape and a hint of lemon. Plum, almond, cherry, ginger and a delicate salty note then emerge.
• Finish: The finish fades gently with nutty notes and dried raisins. It lingers for a long time, also revealing spice and defining notes of butterscotch, dates and figs.

Distillery/Bottler:

Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery produces the Barbados components using pot and column stills. The historic distillery is located on Brighton Beach and has belonged to the independent Maison Ferrand since 2017. Its methods include cultivating its own yeast strains, including yeasts from the local environment. In France, Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel oversees continental maturation and blending; PXXO receives an additional Pedro-Ximénez finish.
