Special Features:

The Peated Islay Cask Finish brings the cask character of a peated Scotch whisky to this ten-year-old Panama rum. Made from molasses, the rum belongs to the Spanish style. It contains neither added sugar nor colouring.

The rum from cask 314-22 was bottled on 28 February 2025. The worldwide release comprises 707 bottles. This edition contains 0.7 litres at 44.7% alcohol and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Delicate smoke accompanies lemon, orange and lime. Forest honey complements the citrus notes, while nougat and chocolate make a subtle appearance. A hint of sea salt adds another note.
• Palate: The rum feels full-bodied and oily on the palate. Sweet, fruity orange and lime peel mingle with spicy wood and smoke. The peel's bitter spice contrasts with a delicate honey sweetness. Liquorice, honeycomb and dark chocolate complement the flavour.
• Finish: Dry wood and a hint of sea salt linger in the long finish. A delicate mineral note accompanies dark chocolate and smoky, salty tones. Smoke and chocolate emerge together at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

El Ron del Artesano has its family roots in the Black Forest, where a small distillery with its own cooperage was established in 1880. Viktor, whose father had founded the business, learned both distilling and cask-making. His depiction as a cooper on the label recalls this connection between spirit and cask.

In its fifth generation, the family developed this heritage into a rum project with ties to Panama. Sebastian began selecting casks there in 2012 and is responsible for the maturation and selection of the rums. Tastings determine when a rum is ready for bottling. The brand uses no added flavourings or sugar; bottling and labelling are carried out by hand.
