Full tropical maturation in a former Cognac cask defines this single-cask release from the Unshared Cask Collection. The rum spent six years in Chai Humide, Savanna’s humid ageing cellar number 4 on Réunion. Sugar cane juice and molasses were fermented to make the rum, which was distilled in a Savalle column still.

The Germany 2026 edition is dedicated to the German market. Savanna bottled the rum from cask 1037 at 64% in 700 individually numbered bottles of 0.5 litres. It is bottled without colouring or chill filtration and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Vanilla accompanies a scent of light wood. Cedar and subtle spices add further notes, while dried fruit remains a delicate hint in the background.
• Palate: Ripe orange, soft caramel and vanilla come together on the palate. Nutmeg and cask wood lend a spicy edge to the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish is dry and wood-led. Light tannins and lingering warmth accompany the closing notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Savanna’s history is closely linked to Réunion’s sugar industry. The distillery of the former sugar estate was already operating in Saint-Paul in 1870. In 1992, it moved to Saint-André, beside the Bois-Rouge sugar factory. Bottlings under its own Savanna brand have been released since 2003; before then, most of its production went to other bottlers.

The distillery cultivates its own yeasts and uses various types of distillation equipment, including a copper Savalle column still. Its range extends from traditional rums and agricole rum to particularly aromatic Grand Arôme rums. Alongside former Cognac casks, Savanna uses casks that previously held drinks such as port, sherry, Muscat wine or Calvados for selected releases.
