Special Features:

For Royal, Zacapa blends rums whose individual components have matured for eight to 30 years. The blend passes through the solera system in Guatemala’s cool highlands at an altitude of 2,300 metres. A second maturation in French oak casks from the historic forests of Le Bois du Roy gives this bottling its distinctive accent. The rum is bottled at 45% and comes in gift packaging.

Dark chocolate, toasted coconut and almonds shape the aromatic profile. Plum and dark sugar syrup combine fruit with deep sweetness. Toasted walnuts, ground almonds and marzipan add to this nutty, chocolate-rich character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals intense aromas of chocolate, toasted coconut and almonds.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum feels very smooth and syrupy. Caramel sweetness spreads before pronounced roasted notes emerge, while the alcohol remains barely perceptible.
• Finish: The long finish is sweet and smooth. Marzipan, toasted walnuts and ground almonds linger alongside dark chocolate, plum and dark sugar syrup.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zacapa is made in Guatemala. The brand was established in 1976 to mark the 100th anniversary of the town of Zacapa. The first pressing of sugar cane juice provides the raw material; Zacapa uses a yeast strain derived from pineapple for fermentation. Master Blender Lorena Vásquez oversees maturation and blending at the Casa sobre las nubes in the Guatemalan highlands. Through the solera system, she brings together rums of different ages and profiles.
