Bourbon and sherry casks shape this Glen Garioch during its twelve years of maturation. The two cask types contribute to a single bottling whose character combines sweet fruit, distinct barley notes and floral heather. Oak adds a subtle accent.

The Single Malt is bottled at 48% without chill filtration. Its creamy texture accompanies the fruit and dessert notes. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Floral heather notes mingle with the aroma of poached pears and the sweetness of malted barley.
• Palate: Crème brûlée and sweet, ripe banana appear first. Light oak notes and fruity pear then join them.
• Finish: The finish is long and gentle. Fruity notes combine with spicy wood.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Garioch lies on the outskirts of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire, in north-eastern Scotland. The distillery's history dates back to 1797. Its founders, the Manson brothers, came from a farming family, and the original operation also included a brewery. Glen Garioch later became an important malt for the VAT 69 blend.

Water and energy played a particular role in the distillery's development. Following its closure due to water shortages in 1968, an abundant spring was tapped at neighbouring Coutens Farm in 1972. In the 1970s, Glen Garioch also used recovered waste heat for its malt kiln, to preheat the fermented wash and to heat greenhouses. Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers were among the crops grown there. The greenhouse project ended in 1993.
