This ten-year-old Balmenach combines the distillery’s robust, malty character with a finish in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. Distilled in 2016, the Speyside single malt matured for ten years in total before Signatory Vintage bottled it in 2026 as 100 Proof Edition #79 at 57.1%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colour.

The Oloroso finish deepens the whisky’s dark and spicy qualities without obscuring its malty, cereal-driven core. Dark dried fruit, caramel, roasted nuts and dark chocolate meet spices and tobacco, while floral accents complement the robust profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, malt sweetness and dark chocolate mingle with raisins, orange peel, cinnamon and polished oak, accompanied by subtle floral accents.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and rich on the palate. Cereal, soft caramel and roasted nuts combine with fruitcake, roasted coffee and sweet sherry spice.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, cocoa, oak and a distinctive note of spiced tobacco.

Distillery/Bottler:

Balmenach is located near Cromdale in Speyside. James MacGregor obtained a distilling licence for what was then Balminoch Farm in 1824. The distillery draws its water from the Cromdale Hills and continues to use wooden washbacks as part of its traditional equipment.

Independent bottler Signatory Vintage selected and bottled this Balmenach for its 100 Proof Edition. Andrew Symington and his brother founded the company in 1988. Following its acquisition of Edradour Distillery in 2002, Signatory gradually moved its operations to Pitlochry; the entire business has been based on the distillery grounds since 2007.
