Aberlour 10 Forest Reserve combines maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks with an additional French oak finish for a portion of the whisky. This sequence adds spice and a dry oak note to its fruity character. The name Forest Reserve reflects Aberlour’s commitment to protecting Speyside’s forests. The single malt matures for ten years and is bottled at 40% alcohol in 0.7-litre bottles.

Red apple and vanilla shape the fruity impression, while apricot, nutmeg, clove and toasted almonds bring out its spicy and nutty side. Fruit and spice linger in the warm finish alongside a dry oak note.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers red apple and vanilla with a subtle oak note.
• Palate: The whisky is soft on the palate. Apricot and toasted almonds mingle with nutmeg, clove and gentle cask spice. A little water brings out a note of vanilla cream.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm. Fruit and spice linger with toasted nuts and a dry oak note.

Distillery/Bottler:

James Fleming founded Aberlour distillery in 1879 on the banks of the River Lour in the Speyside village of Aberlour. It uses water from the nearby Birkenbush springs and barley from farms within roughly 24 kilometres for its whiskies. Aberlour makes Forest Reserve itself and releases it as an official bottling. The distillery belongs to Chivas Brothers, Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky company.
