Aerstone Land Cask is the smokier counterpart to the gentle Sea Cask in the same range. This ten-year-old single malt whisky matures in warehouses inland in Ayrshire. Highland peat gives it its peaty character. At 40%, it remains approachable while retaining its combination of smoke, sweetness and oak.

Caramelised sugar and candied apple give the peat smoke a sweet core. Liquorice and oak complement this combination, while spicy smoke on the nose recalls a campfire and smoked bacon. Vanilla and earthy notes shape the finish. The whisky contains caramel colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals spicy peat smoke reminiscent of a campfire and smoked bacon. A delicate sweetness and citrus notes round out the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft and creamy on the palate. Peat smoke remains clearly present as the sweetness becomes more prominent. Caramelised sugar, liquorice and candied apple mingle with further fruit notes, vanilla and oak.
• Finish: Peat smoke and vanilla sweetness persist through the long, warm finish. Earthy and nutty notes, along with toffee, complement the lingering flavours.

Aerstone belongs to William Grant & Sons, the independent Scottish family company founded in 1887. Master Blender Brian Kinsman oversees the ten-year maturation of Aerstone whiskies in the warehouses of Ayrshire. The range contrasts two styles: Sea Cask is a gentle single malt in the Speyside style, while Land Cask is a peated, smoky single malt. Both are distilled in the Lowlands; their different maturation locations are part of the range's concept.
