Special Features:

An extended period of additional maturation in two different cask types shapes this Allt-A-Bhainne from the Mission Gold series. After around twenty years in Bourbon Hogsheads, the whisky spent its final six years of maturation in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and French red wine casks. This additional maturation therefore accounts for a substantial part of its total 26 years in cask.

The single malt was distilled in 1995 and bottled by Murray McDavid in 2022. The bottling carries the cask references 1900002 and 177850 / 854. This limited release comprises 560 bottles, each containing 0.7 litres at 41.6% alcohol. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet spice notes mingle with fruity and nutty aromas and floral hints.
• Palate: On the palate, dried apricots and strawberries combine with chocolate.
• Finish: Bold malt notes, floral impressions and gentle oak spice linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Allt-A-Bhainne stands at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Scotland's Speyside region. Built in 1975, the distillery was established to supply malt whisky for blended whiskies. Its Gaelic name roughly means milk stream. This bottling puts its spirit centre stage as a single malt in its own right.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Working with wine casks became part of the independent bottler's approach early on. Today, Coleburn in Speyside is its home. For additional maturation, the team sources freshly emptied casks from wine producers, sherry bodegas and American whiskey makers. In Coleburn's traditional warehouses, it monitors the development of individual casks and tailors further maturation to the character of each whisky.
