Special Features:

The 2019 bottling of Arran 18 Year Old combines whisky matured for many years in bourbon and sherry casks. Orchard fruit and vanilla sit alongside caramelised orange, baked peach, dark chocolate and mature oak spice. Bottled at 46% without added colour or chill filtration, this single malt retains its natural texture.

Despite its long maturation, the whisky remains fruit-forward. Maple syrup and chocolate lend it richness; toasted oak and ginger add spice, while coffee brings a more bitter note. On the finish, the sweet cask notes recede, leaving fruit and increasingly dry spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers sweet orchard fruit, syrup and toasted oak. Dark dried fruit, chocolate and a hint of tobacco follow.
• Palate: On the palate, caramelised orange, dark chocolate and baked peach mingle with maple syrup and dark fruit. Ginger, nutmeg and clove add spice.
• Finish: The long finish remains fruity and spicy. Citrus and baked peach linger alongside chocolate and coffee; the oak becomes drier towards the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lochranza Distillery began production in 1995 in the north of the Isle of Arran. Its water comes from Loch na Davie; the distillery ferments its wort in wooden washbacks and distils it twice in copper pot stills. For maturation, it uses casks that previously held bourbon or sherry, among others. Lochranza is owned by the independent company Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd, which opened a second distillery, Lagg, in the south of the island in 2019. Arran 18 is a distillery bottling from Lochranza.
