Special Features:

A finish in Amarone wine casks gives this Arran single malt its vinous fruit character. The whisky first matures in traditional oak casks before moving to selected red wine casks from an artisanal producer in Veneto.

Red berries and dark fruit complement the whisky’s fresh character, alongside cherry, chocolate and gentle spice. The influence of the Amarone casks remains balanced. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings poached pear and honey, with toasted almonds and a subtle hint of cranberry.
• Palate: On the palate, dark chocolate, cherry and Turkish delight mingle with cooked fruit and toffee.
• Finish: On the finish, the finesse of Arran single malt meets restrained fruit and oak notes from the Amarone casks.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lochranza Distillery in the north of the Isle of Arran makes unpeated Arran single malt. Production began in 1995, and the distillery is operated by Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd. Since 2019, it has had a sister distillery in the south of the island: Lagg Distillery, whose single malt is heavily peated.

At Lochranza, malted barley is mashed with water from Loch na Davie. Yeast ferments the wort in wooden washbacks; the resulting wash is then distilled twice in copper pot stills. For this bottling, the whisky receives its Amarone finish after its initial maturation.
