Robert Burns Blend brings together Arran Single Malt and other Scottish whiskies in a blend with a light, dry character. Dedicated to Scotland’s national poet, it also makes a suitable accompaniment to a Burns Supper, the traditional meal held in his honour. It contains 0.7 litres of whisky at 40% alcohol and comes in a gift tube.

Alongside the fruity and pastry-like notes, there are honey, gentle spice, oak and hints of citrus. A delicate touch of peat smoke complements the otherwise light flavour. The blend can be enjoyed neat, over ice or in classic whisky cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the whisky recalls a raspberry and almond tart, with hints of toasted oak and toffee.
• Palate: The palate is light and dry. Sweet apple notes and liquorice provide accents, accompanied by a subtle hint of peat smoke.
• Finish: The finish is fresh and warming, with lingering vanilla sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lochranza Distillery lies in the north of the Isle of Arran. Construction began in 1994, and the first distillation took place on 29 June 1995, marking the return of legal whisky production to Arran. The Arran Single Malt produced there forms the heart of Robert Burns Blend.

For its single malt, the distillery uses Concerto barley and water from Loch na Davie in the hills above Lochranza. The wort is fermented with yeast in wooden washbacks, after which the fermented liquid is distilled twice in copper pot stills. The oak casks used to mature Arran Single Malt include those that previously held bourbon or sherry.

The Robert Burns Collection draws on the poet’s connection to Ayrshire. Although Burns never visited Arran, he could see the island from the area around Alloway. Historically, whisky from illicit distilleries on Arran reached the Ayrshire coast via Dunure before travelling onwards to Scottish towns and cities.
