Balblair is near Edderton in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery uses barley from the Black Isle and water from the Edderton Hills. A 62-hour fermentation is followed by slow distillation lasting around four and a half hours in squat pot stills.
John Ross founded Balblair in 1790; the distillery has occupied its present site since 1895. The 25-year-old single malt matures in traditional dunnage warehouses. Inver House Distillers acquired the distillery in 1996, and Balblair is now part of the International Beverage portfolio.
