Special features: The Ballechin 10 years is the smoky variant of the renowned Edradour Distillery and is named after a historic farmhouse distillery. This single malt matured for 10 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, giving it a complex depth. With a phenol content of at least 50 ppm, it presents itself as intensely peated and smoky. Bottled at 46% vol. without chill filtration and without coloring, its authentic character is preserved.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Intense notes of sweet peat smoke, accompanied by aromas of ripe fruits, toffee, and vanilla.
Palate: Oily and velvety, a sweet caramel note unfolds, harmoniously blending with the distinctive peat smoke.
Finish: Medium to long, sweet and pleasant, with a lasting presence of peat smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: The Edradour Distillery, founded in 1825, is considered one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. It is known for its artisanal production and produces, in addition to the classic Edradour, the smoky Ballechin. The name "Ballechin" recalls a farmhouse distillery that was closed in 1927 in the region.
