This limited Black Bull bottling combines lengthy sherry cask maturation with a tribute to Sir Nick Faldo. Part of the Tale of Two Legends series, it celebrates his 30 European Tour victories. It also commemorates his third Open Championship title, won at Muirfield in 1992: that was also the year when the youngest whisky in the blend began its maturation.

For this blend, Euan C. Shand selected malt whiskies and old grain whiskies that had matured for at least 30 years. Sherry casks provide the maturation setting for this combination. The whisky is bottled at 50% alcohol, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the whisky evokes rich fruitcake with almonds. A delicate rose note complements the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, warming Christmas spices combine with a variety of citrus fruits to create a balanced flavour.
• Finish: Dried fruit takes the lead in the finish, accompanied by subtle spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Duncan Taylor was founded in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading company. Today, the independent bottler is based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Its range includes single-cask bottlings under names such as The Octave and Dimensions, alongside Blended Scotch such as Black Bull. Supplying Scottish distilleries with casks for filling is one of the historical foundations of the company and its stocks of mature whisky.

Sir Nick Faldo, Euan Shand and Andrew Shand worked together on the selection for the Faldo collection. During a visit to Huntly, they tasted old malt and grain whiskies from Duncan Taylor's stocks. This resulted in a range whose different ages reflect important milestones in Faldo's golfing career.
