This Bowmore combines twelve years of maturation with a sherry-led cask selection. Selected Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks provide the foundation, before the whisky is finished in Oloroso sherry casks. The European oak of the sherry casks contributes to the interplay of fruit, wood, nuts and sweet spice. Bowmore's smoke remains present, complementing the sweeter notes.

The Sherry Oak Collection was launched internationally from September 2024. This twelve-year-old single malt belongs to the range and is offered at 40% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres. It comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla caramel, red berries and marzipan combine with a hint of dried fruit.
• Palate: The palate reveals ripe pears, lemon juice, cinnamon, toasted almonds and peaches in syrup, while the smoke grows increasingly pronounced.
• Finish: Sweet spice lingers through the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bowmore has been producing whisky since 1779 in the town of the same name on Loch Indaal and is Islay's oldest licensed distillery. Its historic facilities include the No. 1 Vaults warehouse, right on the shore. The distillery belongs to Suntory Global Spirits and produces the single malt for this official bottling.

Bowmore's production methods include floor malting, drying the malt with peat smoke, long fermentation and slow distillation. The distillery draws its water from the River Laggan, along a watercourse extending roughly eleven kilometres into the town. These methods are part of the distillery's general practice; the specific cask selection gives the Sherry Oak Collection its additional character.
