Special Features:

Maturation for 25 years in first-fill American oak barrels defines this Braes of Glenlivet. It belongs to the Secret Speyside Collection, through which Chivas Brothers introduced whiskies from four Speyside distilleries rarely available as single malts. The collection launched in 2019; this Rare Release was bottled as a small batch in October 2020.

The American oak casks accompany a sweet, fruit-led style with creamy touches and fresh coconut, contrasted by spice and dryness on the finish. The whisky was bottled at 48% without chill filtration and contains no added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and is presented in a dark blue gift box with gold-coloured details.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet fruit notes mingle with orange marmalade and melon on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, fruitiness meets creamy toffee and sweet coconut.
• Finish: The finish lingers with a spicy, dry character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Braes of Glenlivet is the original name of the distillery now known as Braeval, in Chapeltown in Speyside. Founded in 1973, it initially focused mainly on malt whisky for blends. Distillation takes place in tall copper stills, and the water comes from the Preenie Well in the Braes hills.

With the Secret Speyside Collection, Chivas Brothers brought the distinctive character of this remote distillery into sharper focus. Alongside the 25-year-old whisky, the original selection includes 27- and 30-year-old Braes of Glenlivet releases. These three ages showcase the distillery’s mellow, tropical-fruit character.
