Stiùireadair brings together Bunnahabhain’s sherry-rich and salty sides. This single malt has no age statement and combines whiskies matured in bourbon, sherry and previously used casks. The selection of different cask maturations pairs sweet dried fruit and caramel with the distillery’s coastal character.

Vanilla, nuts and gentle spice complement the fruity sweetness, while a briny note provides a salty counterpoint. This unpeated whisky is bottled at 46.3% without chill filtration or added colouring. This edition contains 0.2 litres and comes in a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, dried fruit and creamy caramel meet hints of brine, vanilla, nuts and spice.
• Palate: The whisky feels creamy on the palate, where dried fruit, sea salt and caramel are accompanied by nuts and gentle spice.
• Finish: The finish lingers, with dried fruit remaining on the palate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain stands on the Sound of Islay and was founded in 1881 by William Robertson together with William and James Greenlees. Roads and homes were also built at the remote site for the distillery and its workers. Water for whisky production comes from the Margadale spring north of the distillery.

The tall, pear-shaped stills have long swan necks. These make it harder for heavier flavour compounds to pass into the distillate, contributing to its comparatively light character. Bunnahabhain produces Stiùireadair as a single malt and releases it as a distillery bottling. The distillery belongs to CVH Spirits.
