Special Features:

This 16-year-old single malt combines maturation in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks with a subsequent finish in Port Pipes. These large casks, used for port wine, complement the two cask types used for the initial maturation. This is an official Bushmills bottling, bottled at 40%.

The three cask influences create a layered character with juicy dark fruit, caramelised red berries and roasted nuts, alongside vanilla and spice. Its full body brings together fruity and sweet impressions without a high alcohol strength taking centre stage.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals dried citrus fruit, toffee and caramel. The aromas are rich and expressive.
• Palate: Dried figs, roasted nuts and vanilla pod unfold on the palate. The whiskey is full-bodied, with honey-sweet vanilla and toasted oak complementing the fruit.
• Finish: Orange marmalade and milk chocolate linger in the rich finish. The long finish also reveals concentrated, jam-like berry notes that give way to a silky milk chocolate note.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Old Bushmills Distillery is in the village of Bushmills in County Antrim on the Northern Irish coast, near the Giant’s Causeway. Its water comes from Saint Columb’s Rill, a tributary of the River Bush. The main production stages are brought together on site: malt distillation, maturation, blending and bottling.

The region’s distilling tradition dates back to the licence granted to Sir Thomas Phillipps in 1608 to distil and sell spirits. Bushmills uses copper pot stills and continues the tradition of triple-distilled malt whiskey. Following the devastating fire of 1885, the Old Bushmills Distillery was rebuilt on the same site.
