Cardhu 15 Year Old has a fruity, sweet character that gradually unfolds in the glass. This official bottling contains 40% alcohol and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. Served neat, its fruit and pastry notes are particularly easy to explore.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Initially, there are only hints of fruit and spice. Swirling brings out vanilla and tropical fruit, followed by dried fruit and light fruitcake with flaked almonds. With water, the nose becomes slightly more tart. Later, richer sweet and spicy notes emerge, with toffee and toasted coconut.
• Palate: Neat, the whisky unfolds slowly and feels viscous, with a medium body and a light impression on the palate. A cooling sensation is followed by pepper and light charred notes. The flavour becomes richer while remaining sweet, recalling toffee, chocolate and the caramelised sugar crust of crème brûlée. Water makes it less viscous and sweeter, with barely perceptible acidity.
• Finish: The finish is not particularly long and feels soft, light and slightly drying. Dark chocolate accompanies the aftertaste, with a faint smoky note appearing at the very end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Cardhu distillery is near Knockando in Scotland’s Speyside region. Its beginnings date back to a small family business run by John and Helen Cumming in 1811. Helen shaped its early history; later, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth had a new distillery built and registered Cardhu as a trademark.

Cardhu uses water from the springs on Mannoch Hill and the Lyne Burn. Its production process includes fermentation lasting around 75 hours, which supports its fruity house style. Cardhu now belongs to Diageo, and whisky from the distillery is also an important component of Johnnie Walker blends.
