The Guard Bridge brings together single malts from the Highlands and Lowlands, with a final maturation in casks that previously held Eden Mill Single Malt. Whisky from the original Eden Mill Distillery is also part of the blend. At its launch in 2023, the composition included at least ten single malts, one of which had matured for more than eight years.

The blend combines floral, grassy Lowland impressions with the barley sweetness and dried-fruit notes of Highland malts. Apple, pineapple and subtle spices complement its non-smoky character. The whisky is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

The whisky takes its name from the six-arched Guard Bridge, built in the 15th century to connect St Andrews with the trading port of Guardbridge at the time. The blue and turquoise shades of the gift packaging reflect the changing tidal colours of the Eden Estuary. The design at the centre of the bottle label evokes the course of the River Eden through Fife.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals delicate lavender and lilac notes, alongside an impression of summer grass.
• Palate: On the palate, green apple and pineapple sit alongside subtle cinnamon and cardamom notes. A hint of white pepper complements the fruitiness.
• Finish: Subtle fruitiness and floral impressions linger on the medium-length finish, complemented by delicate cardamom and orange blossom notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Eden Mill is based in Guardbridge near St Andrews, at the mouth of the River Eden. Its new distillery stands on the site of a former paper mill, where a distillery had already operated in the 19th century. Today, gin and single malt are produced there. Eden Mill has entered into a partnership with Scottish biotechnology company MiAlgae, which is intended to use wastewater from the distillery to produce omega-3 fatty acids.

Head Distiller Scott Ferguson selected and blended the single malts used in The Guard Bridge. Eden Mill combines its own whisky from the original distillery with malts from other Scottish distilleries. The brand is therefore responsible for the composition, but not all the whiskies in the blend come from its own distillation.
