Caledonia spends its entire twelve-year maturation in Oloroso sherry casks. Scottish musician Dougie MacLean selected this special release and named it after his song Caledonia. The whisky is bottled in small batches at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.
Dried fruit, honey and flavours reminiscent of Christmas cake combine with a full, syrupy texture. A little water brings the fruitiness and Oloroso-influenced wood into sharper focus on the palate.

Edradour Distillery near Pitlochry was founded in 1825 as a cooperative of local farmers. Under Andrew Symington, it retains its traditional, small-scale approach. Its equipment includes an open cast-iron mash tun and Oregon pine washbacks. Distillation takes place in copper pot stills; the vapours then condense in coiled copper pipes cooled with water from the Edradour Burn.
Caledonia is distilled, matured and bottled at Edradour and is an official distillery bottling. For Dougie MacLean, the place is connected with his home region of Perthshire. He wrote Caledonia in Brittany in 1977, homesick for Scotland.
