Special Features:

Elements of Islay Sherry Cask combines smoky island malts with pronounced sherry maturation. The blend brings together single malts from one distillery on Islay’s south coast and another on its north coast. The southern component contributes dried fruit and dark chocolate, while the northern component adds lemony notes and an impression of smoked fish. Dark fruit sweetness and smoke thus sit alongside brighter citrus accents.

The whiskies mature in First-Fill and Refill sherry Butts and Hogsheads. This combines sherry casks being used for whisky maturation for the first time with casks that have already been used. Sherry Cask forms part of the brand’s permanent range alongside Cask Edit and Bourbon Cask. Its bottling strength of 54.5% underlines the robust character of this expression. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, tobacco and sandalwood mingle with the aroma of smoked fish. Lemon oil and ginger root add aromatic accents, complemented by a hint of menthol.
• Palate: The palate is rich and smooth. Candied orange slices with dark chocolate and candied ginger meet the sweetness of muscovado sugar syrup and ginger cake with dates. Sweet smoke and dried autumn fruits remain present in the background.
• Finish: Toffee with dark sugar syrup and smoky black tea lead the long finish. Dark brown sugar adds to the sweetness, while the finish remains rich and spicy.

Distillery/Bottler:

Elements of Islay is the work of independent bottler Elixir Distillers, established by brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh. Sukhinder began collecting whisky miniatures in the 1980s and first bottled whisky from a selected cask in 2002. The Elements of Islay range followed in 2008. The bottling business, previously known as Speciality Drinks, has operated under the name Elixir Distillers since 2017.

For Elements of Islay, Elixir Distillers combines lighter whisky characters from the north of the island with heavier ones from the south. Alongside the blended malts in the permanent range, the series includes limited single malts whose distillery codes and batch numbers evoke the periodic table. The three permanent expressions, Cask Edit, Bourbon Cask and Sherry Cask, were introduced in 2022. Head Blender Oliver Chilton is responsible for the composition of Sherry Cask.
