Special Features:

Four miniatures of 0.05 litres each showcase the range of the Elgin Classic Collection: bourbon-cask-matured Classic, Port Cask Finish, Sherry Cask Finish and Peated Single Malt. All four are official Glen Moray bottlings, each at 40%. The gift packaging contains a total of 0.2 litres.

American oak casks provide the shared foundation for the maturation of all four whiskies; Classic matures entirely in them. The two cask-finished expressions then spend several months in port wine casks from Porto Cruz and Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez respectively. For Peated, Glen Moray combines barley malt dried over peat with its traditional unpeated counterpart. This allows a comparison of different cask influences and the effect of peat: Classic's citrus and caramel sweetness sit alongside wine-like dried fruit in Port Cask Finish, dark chocolate in Sherry Cask Finish, and vanilla, peat smoke and spicy oak in Peated.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Classic has aromas of citrus fruit, caramel and freshly baked shortbread. In Port Cask Finish, toasted vanilla notes and light oak meet pronounced dried fruit. Sherry Cask Finish offers dried fruit, toasted cinnamon and toffee sweets. Peated combines peat smoke, vanilla and tart rhubarb with a hint of leather.
• Palate: Classic combines sweet malt toffee with blackcurrant and fragrant lemongrass. Port Cask Finish is refreshingly spicy, with a tart citrus accent and caramel-like cinnamon sweetness. In Sherry Cask Finish, gentle vanilla and oak notes sit alongside dark chocolate and oriental spices. Peated opens with peat smoke, adding light spice and creamy vanilla.
• Finish: Classic finishes warmly: caramelised citrus fruit recedes, allowing delicate spices to emerge. Port Cask Finish leaves toasted oak and sweet wine notes in a gentle, balanced finish. Sherry Cask Finish combines lingering spicy warmth with the bitterness of dark chocolate. Peated's long finish carries lingering sweetness and spicy oak smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Moray produces these four single malts in Elgin, in Speyside. The distillery was established in 1897 by converting the Elgin West Brewery; its first new-make spirit flowed from the stills on 13 September. Different cask types were already in use at the time, including Marsala and sherry casks. This early diversity was taken further in 1999 with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc finishes. Introduced in 2014, the Classic Collection continues this variety of cask influences with port and sherry finishes among others, complemented by a peated expression.
