American oak and a final marrying period in first-fill bourbon casks shape this 25-year-old Glen Scotia. After maturation in selected bourbon casks, the combined whiskies spend at least another twelve months in first-fill bourbon casks. This brings together lengthy cask maturation and a distinct final marrying phase.

This full-bodied single malt combines fruity sweetness with a pronounced coastal character. It is bottled at 48.8% without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and is presented in a wooden box. Glen Scotia 25 Year Old received the Best in Show award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose distinctly evokes a fresh sea breeze. Delicate vanilla and oak notes mingle with spicy fruit aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, maritime notes accompany red apple and zesty orange peel. Vanilla syrup and caramel add sweetness.
• Finish: Sea salt remains present on the long finish, accompanied by the spice of ground ginger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia was founded in Campbeltown in 1832 as Scotia Distillery. The town lies on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland's west coast and developed into a major centre of whisky production during the 19th century. Historic parts of the distillery survive, including the stillhouse and a traditional dunnage warehouse dating from the 1830s.

For its present-day production, Glen Scotia sources Scottish malted barley to its own specifications. In the Victorian cast-iron mash tun, water from Crosshill Loch extracts the sugars from the milled malt. A long fermentation is followed by slow double distillation in copper pot stills. The site has both palletised and racked warehouses as well as traditional dunnage warehouses for maturation.
