Demerara rum casks give this limited Double Cask Edition its tropical character. The single malt first matures in first-fill bourbon barrels before spending at least eight months finishing in former rum casks from Guyana. The bottling thus brings together two distinct cask influences: bourbon maturation provides the foundation, while the rum casks contribute a sweet, fruity dimension.

The idea behind the rum finish draws on Campbeltown's history as an international trading port. Rum casks were offered for sale in the town as early as 1815, before Glen Scotia was founded. This edition reflects that connection through its combination of tropical sweetness and maritime character. The whisky is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, caramelised sugar and tropical fruit meet a maritime note reminiscent of sea spray.
• Palate: On the palate, the sweetness of cooked-down sugar and molasses combines with coconut, banana and sweet peach. The fruit notes balance the pronounced sweetness.
• Finish: Warming spice notes and maritime impressions linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia was founded in Campbeltown in 1832 as Scotia Distillery. Situated on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland's west coast, the town became a major centre of whisky production in the 19th century. Parts of the historic distillery, including the mashing area, stillhouse and traditional dunnage warehouse, retain their design from the 1830s.

Rather than malting its own barley, the distillery sources Scottish malted barley to its own specifications. Longer fermentation times and slower distillation are among the developments in its production methods. Glen Scotia produces both peated and unpeated whiskies, with production of the peated version usually concentrated into around six weeks each year.
