An Oloroso sherry finish shapes this thirteen-year-old Glenburgie from The Whisky Cellar's Private Cellars Selection. The whisky was distilled in September 2010 and bottled in January 2024 from cask 11126. This single-cask release comprises 271 bottles, bottled at a cask strength of 53.3% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Its profile combines dried fruit and cocoa with spicy chocolate notes and sweet fruit accents. Coffee, honey and roasted nuts complement its dark, fruit-led character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals concentrated, sweet dried-fruit aromas, accompanied by bittersweet cocoa and piquant spice.
• Palate: The whisky is intense and creamy on the palate. Bold dark chocolate, fresh ginger and ginger biscuits come to the fore first, followed by candied fruit and plum jam. Juicy plums add further fruity richness.
• Finish: Sweet milky coffee and gentle honey sweetness linger in the long finish, joined by a hint of roasted nuts.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenburgie lies near Forres in Speyside and supplies one of the key malts for Ballantine's. The distillery was built in 1829 as Kilnflat and took its present name in 1878 from nearby Burgie Castle. It was rebuilt close to the original site in 2003, with two further stills added in 2006.

Independent bottler The Whisky Cellar was founded in 2016 by Keith Bonnington. His industry experience includes eleven years at Edrington. For his single-cask releases, he has the whiskies assessed by a tasting panel and uses neither added colouring nor chill filtration. This Glenburgie belongs to the Private Cellars Selection.
