Special Features:

For this Small Batch release, Glencadam matures for 13 years in selected first-fill American oak bourbon casks. Previously used for bourbon, these casks are now used to mature Scotch whisky for the first time. The Single Malt combines tropical fruitiness with a creamy, nutty character.

Glencadam is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is creamy, with aromas reminiscent of sweet bread and butter pudding. Sugared almonds and zesty citrus marmalade round out the bouquet.
• Palate: The palate has a rich, oily texture. Creamy panna cotta and caramelised biscuits mingle with lemon zest and nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is warming and nutty, with almond pastries and cocoa powder. Ground coffee lingers as a subtle hint.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam's history began in 1825, when David Scott built the distillery on land belonging to his father-in-law, George Cooper. Following its closure in 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers took over the business in 2003. Production resumed in August that year, and the first 36 casks under the new owners were filled in early September.

Glencadam uses unpeated Scottish malted barley, which is ground in a historic Porteus mill. In the traditional mash tun, the grist is mixed with increasingly hot water in three stages. The resulting wort ferments with distiller's yeast in Oregon pine washbacks. For maturation, the distillery uses, among others, its historic warehouses dating from its founding year of 1825.
