Glencadam Reserva de Jerez follows its bourbon cask maturation with a finish in Oloroso Sherry Butts from Jerez in Spain. The Master Distiller selected whiskies from the 2007 vintage from the distillery’s historic warehouses. They initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and were married before the finishing period.

This fifteen-year-old edition was introduced in April 2023 and comprises 9,420 individually numbered bottles. The whisky is not smoky and is bottled at 46%, with its natural colour and without chill filtration. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Pralines, toasted nuts, light sugar syrup and candied fruit peel stand out clearly on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, the sweetness recalls Danish pastries with maple syrup and pecans. Sultanas, milk chocolate and heather honey join them, accompanied by nutmeg and oak spice.
• Finish: The warming finish recalls apple strudel and cream tarts. These notes gradually fade, while sweet spices and espresso linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam is one of the distilleries of the eastern Highlands. David Scott established it in 1825 on land belonging to his father-in-law, George Cooper. Following its closure in 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery in 2003 and resumed production. Reserva de Jerez is an official Glencadam bottling.

Glencadam uses unpeated Scottish malted barley, which is ground in a historic Porteus mill. In the mash tun, five-tonne batches of grist are processed in three stages with increasingly hot water. The resulting wort ferments with distilling yeast in Oregon pine washbacks. For maturation, the distillery uses, among other facilities, its traditional low-rise warehouses dating from its founding year of 1825.
