Special Features:

Glencadam Reservé de Bordeaux undergoes a finishing period in selected Merlot wine casks from Bordeaux after its maturation in bourbon casks. The Master Distiller selects whisky from American oak casks held in the distillery’s historic warehouses. These whiskies are married before receiving their finish in the French wine casks.

This bottling belongs to the Cask Finish Range introduced in 2023, which Master Distiller Robert Fleming developed in small batches without age statements. Its character combines berry fruit and tart fruit notes with cocoa, roasted chestnuts and oak spice. The whisky is offered in a bottle containing 0.7 litres, bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Wild strawberries and fruit sweets lend the nose a sweet fruitiness. Blackberry jam, cedarwood and ginger biscuits add further aromas.
  • Palate: On the palate, tart cooked-fruit notes meet rhubarb crumble. Cocoa, roasted chestnuts and oak spice complete the flavours.
  • Finish: Dark chocolate cherry liqueur chocolates and espresso linger in the finish. A gentle note of cake spices accompanies the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam is located in Brechin in the eastern Highlands. David Scott founded the distillery in 1825 on land leased from his father-in-law, George Cooper. Following its closure in 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery in 2003 and resumed production.

Glencadam uses unpeated Scottish malted barley, which is ground in a historic Porteus mill. In the traditional mash tun, five tonnes of grist are processed at a time in three stages using progressively hotter water. The resulting wort is then fermented with distilling yeast in Oregon Pine washbacks. During distillation, the distiller selects the heart of the spirit run, which subsequently matures into whisky in oak casks.
