For this small-batch release, Glencadam's Master Distiller selects single malt matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks in the historic dunnage warehouses. After marrying, the whisky receives a finish in Italian Amarone wine casks.

This release combines fruity and nutty impressions with cocoa and spicy oak. It retains its natural colour and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet notes of cherry jam, marzipan, fruit nougat and pistachio mingle with baking spices.
• Palate: On the palate, red fruits and candied ginger meet strawberry liquorice, oak spice, candied peel and cocoa.
• Finish: Cappuccino, dark chocolate, sour cherry and raspberry jam linger alongside a warming woody spice note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam was founded in 1825 in Brechin in the eastern Highlands. Its upward-angled lyne arms, the pipes connecting the stills to the condensers, encourage reflux during distillation and shape a house style characterised by tropical and other fruit notes. In Riserva di Amarone, this fruity foundation meets the influence of Italian wine casks. This small-batch release is an official Glencadam bottling.

The distillery processes unpeated Scottish malted barley in a historic Porteus mill. It uses distiller's yeast and Oregon pine washbacks for fermentation. The whisky matures in traditional dunnage warehouses; the selection for Riserva di Amarone comes from ex-bourbon casks stored there.
