Special Features:

A 21-month finish in a first-fill Amontillado sherry hogshead made from European oak shapes this Glendullan. Distilled in April 2011, the whisky was bottled in 2024 after a total of twelve years of maturation; its finish in cask #367833 formed the final part of that maturation. James Eadie bottled just 293 bottles at a cask strength of 55.8%, without added colouring or chill filtration.

Its fruity, nutty character brings together rhubarb, cherry and green apple with chocolate nut pastries, orange marmalade, toasted oak and blossom honey.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Rhubarb cake, dark cherries and green apple are accompanied by hazelnuts.
  • Palate: Chocolate nut pastries, cherry syrup and orange marmalade meet toasted oak and blossom honey.
  • Finish: Nutty and fruity impressions linger through the long finish alongside raw and toasted oak. Salty notes join hints of raw artichokes and black radish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glendullan produces its single malt in Dufftown in Speyside. The distillery was founded in 1897. In 1972, a new distillery was built beside the original facility; both operated side by side until the old facility closed in 1985. Production has continued in the newer facility ever since. A large proportion of the whisky goes into blended Scotch, while single malt bottlings also appear under the name The Singleton of Glendullan.

As the independent bottler behind this release, James Eadie handled the whisky's final finishing period and bottling. The company specialises in finished Scotch whiskies, as well as single-cask and small-batch bottlings. For its Cask Finish range, it uses cask types previously filled with fortified wines, drawing on the cask selections of the historical James Eadie. He founded his brewing and bottling business in 1854. His great-great-grandson Rupert Patrick later revived the whisky brand, using old business ledgers and a surviving bottle from the 1940s as a foundation.
